My father is a mudblood of Greek origin and my mother is a solid mix of Scottish, Irish, and Cherokee Indian (she's always had perfect spiral curls, big green eyes, and pale skin, you'd never know her mother was half indian!!), and that... sadly, left me with the worst genetic coding possible when it comes to the hair on my scalp. Thick, wiry, each individual strand is truly just frizz. That's it. My natural hair texture? Frizz. Period. =_= You know what chemical relaxers do to my hair? Absolutely nothing. Seriously. My hair laughs in the face of relaxers.

I have to say that products have made ALL OF THE DIFFERENCE with my hair. So yes. I admit it. I am a salon snob =P I had Coppola's Keratin Smoothing Treatment done a few months ago and I have to say that it was SO WORTH the money spent. And the product line that come with-- the Keratin Replenishing Cream, especially-- are absolutely AMAZERING. Like, "Oh my gosh my hair is baby soft!" amazing. My hair totally went from looking like I'd just stuck my finger in a socket to looking like that chick in the Garnier Fructise commercial. My hair has never felt or looked healthier, and it stays that way since the need for a flat iron is almost nonexistent. Cheap styling tools and creams and all of that junk is just a complete waste of money, and not to mention most of it is HORRIBLE for your hair (ie, sulfate is BAD).

But, for a kid, who probably has decent hair to begin with, it probably doesn't make a difference.

just some encouragement from me...mother of triplets...having kids that are the same age makes things harder. addind another kiddo the same age as yours, and EVERYTHING DOUBLES!! I also have always thought that the terrible 2's were a breeze compared to the absolute mayhem that 3 yr olds can create!! just remember, this too shall pass, and you will look back, and wonder how you ever did it!! thanks for sharing, I love your blog, you are an inspiration!!

I use a little bit of both i manly use the store bought shampoos and conditioners and salon styling products and some store bought gel. But I do not under any circumstances believe that all hair products are created equal because they aren't. I have curly hair and i know that not every hair product is what it says it is. The people who create it are just trying to make money off people that trust hair products too easily

ok so for the salon products question, i buy what works best, sometimes it's a salon product, but most the time it's a generic of a salon product that works just as well.

As for the extra kids thing.
I had three girls and baby sat another girl who was the same age as my youngest and i was so dead by the end of the day, but it was partially because they were the same age and it was still quite young, so it was hard. I thought maybe it was just cause the fourth wasn't mine and that's always harder. But i have since had a fourth child and no...four is just cruel and way harder than three, maybe when he's not a baby anymore it won't be as hard, but four is kicking my butt way insanely more than two or three ever did!!!

I didn't even know there was such a thing as pomade still around. I thought that was what the men used decades ago. :) I'm pretty low maintenance--suave is also what I use. But, it treats me well.

Back when my mom bought my shampoo and conditioner FOR me I was a Biolage girl. And I loved it. I miss it, too. But now that I am responsible for paying for my own hair products (and everything else!) I usually buy Tresemme. I don't think salon is ALWAYS better, but I think some of it can be. There are so many things I'd rather splurge on than shampoo and conditioner (can you say CLOTHES and SHOES?!?).

I typically just pick up what ever is on sale or whatever is cheapest! That usually means Suave...most of their shampoos work just as well as more expensive brands!

I have curly hair so product makes a LOT of difference. That being said I splurge on stuff that makes a bigger difference for me so I can save on the other stuff. Sometimes I can find salon products at a bargain at places like tj maxx if I don't go salon I try to go as natural as possible. As for the more than 3 kids I think it makes a difference when she's not technically yours by birth or adoption for some reason. Not that you love her any less, but its like changing diapers-it really is different for your own.

As far as kids go, Going from 2 to 3 was not nearly as difficult as going from 3 to 4, especially since the 3 had a mom on bedrest for 3 months :P Totally understand your exhaustion!

I can definitely tell a difference. I love salon shampoo and conditioner. That is about all I use on my hair. The rest of the family is fine with walmart stuff. I only buy the stuff when it is on sale and I can usually find awesome deals, especially at JCPenney when the salon is clearancing out stuff.

As for the 3+ kids....I agree with the countless comments before that it is easier if you start when they are babies, and when they are your own. ?I went from 2 to 4 when my twins were born, so I don't have any advise on going from 3 to 4. Sorry!

A month!?? Here in the South school starts next week! But that's beside the point. I LOVE salon brands but I rarely buy them because of the price. My hair survives on the better brands found at Target.

I was never a huge advocate of salon only products (even after earning my cosmetology license) because I am a tight-wad. I stock up on V05 and Suave when it's dirt-cheap. However, I don't know if my hair has just changed or what, but I cannot use that stuff daily any longer. Even in my daughter's hair it is a mess. I use it for my son and husband and it doesn't matter, but I get myself the liters of the salon brands when they go on sale.

i have 7 children, so i can't really afford to get salon stuff. so, i have tried to convince myself that the cheap stuff is just as good. ;)

as far as 4 being easier than 3...i would never say it is easier, but it's not as difficult if they are all yours and are staggered in ages. in your situation, it really is like you have an instant set of twins without the benefit of lots of time to figure out what works for you. my hardest transition was from 2-3. after 4 it wasn't that much harder for me because my oldest is 4 years older than #2, so by the time #5 came along the oldest was 12 years old (very responsible and a great babysitter) so she was a HUGE help with supervising some while i was dealing with others.
